I wish I was this imaginative
21,268 lights and LEDs were used to turn this house into a real-life guitar hero game!
All you have to do is ring the doorbell to play. How fun is that?!

The Way We Get By
So recently I have discovered the documentary section of Netflix and have been watching them like crazy. I really enjoy documentaries because they are about real people and real situations with no Hollywood fluff. Babs and I watched a documentary yesterday called The Way We Get By. It is about elderly people who go to a Maine airport at all hours of the day and night to welcome home and send off American troops to the Middle East. It shows the struggles that these people go through every day and and how they put their personal lives aside to do this great service for our soldiers. It was really moving and made me really happy to know that there are these selfless people out there. Here is the trailer

Its been a while
It has been a while since I posted and its because my life is quit boring. I do the same thing everyday...wake up, go to work, go to the gym, eat dinner, hang out, and go to sleep. School is going well. I am busy grading and planning and preparing my professional portfolio. I am hoping to get most of it done by January so I can submit it in February and get it over with already.
Next week is my birthday and Babs got me an early birthday present. Its a video game called Assassin's Creed II. Its an action adventure game that takes place in Italy during the Renaissance. You actually get to meet people like Leonardo da Vinci who invents weapons you can use in the game. The scenery is really beautiful and its fun to run around and take it all in. Here is a video of some action from the game.
I am excited for next week. Two days of work, Wednesday off and then thanksgiving. :-D I love the holidays!

Halloween
Today at school a lot of the students dressed up. I saw vampires, bears, zombies, police men, minnie mouse, and one in particular that I really liked. This girl dressed up as Lady GaGa (a pop artist) and had a boom box with her that played one of GaGa's hit songs Paparazzi. What made the costume even better was that she had friends follow her around with cameras pretending to take pictures of her just like Paparazzi. I thought it was very creative. I decided that I would be into the spirit by dressing up myself. I created this and wore it around my neck. Can you guess what I was?

Anniversary :)
So if you read Bab's blog you know that Babs and I celebrated our two year wedding anniversary on October 5th. To celebrate, we went to get sushi at a new place we had never tried before. I can't think of it's name right now, but it is right down the road from where we live. Babs got a dragon roll, we shared an eel role and I got a spice tuna roll. It was pretty good!
When we got home we gave each other our gifts. I gave him season 5 of The Office and a metal reinforced bass pedal for our rock band drums. I got a DS game called Mario and Luigi: Bowser's Inside Stories.
Next, we broke out the wedding goblets and concocted a mixture of sprite and white grape juice (it was very yummy!)
As a surprise, Babs ordered a small version of our wedding cake! I absolutely loved my wedding cake! Spice cake with Bavarian cream filling and butter cream frosting...my mouth waters just thinking about it!
After stuffing ourselves silly we just hung out and watched t.v. It was fabulous!!
I would have posted this earlier but on Wednesday I came down with the flu. I felt good enough to attempt to make it through Thursday but by lunch I was really feeling it. Luckily, I do not have a last period on Thursdays so I was able to just relax before going home. I thought I was going to die by the time I got home. Babs put me to bed, gave me some medicine and I slept all evening and all night. On Friday APS had the day off so the timing was pretty perfect. I just stayed on the couch and watched whatever was on the t.v. (meaning I didn't even have the strength to try to find what I might have really wanted to watch) I remained either in bed or on the couch until Monday morning when I finally headed back to work. I don't know what kind of flu it was, and I don't think I really want to find out! If it was swine flu I would rather not know.

So I made the decision...
After MUCH thought, discussion, and prayer, I have decided not to coach swim team this year. I kept going back and forth as to whether or not I should do it but I have finally made the decision. I coached for 4 years when I worked at the pool and I really enjoyed it. I liked working with the kids, cheering them on, and watching them improve. On top of that, I really like to be involved, I like to be in control, and I have a really hard time saying no to people. I tried to convince myself that I could coach, lesson plan, do my portfolio and church callings, and still be happy. Sometimes it's hard to see the big picture when you are nose to nose with it. Its always easier to see it when you are standing back and looking at it from a distance.
In this case, I must put faith in the people around me who know me and know my situation. Babs, my mom, Nene, Bab's dad, and my best friend Cory all said the same thing...I have too much going on and I should not do it. I had thoughts that maybe Heavenly Father put this opportunity in front of me because I was suppose to take it, but after hearing the opinions of those close to me I realize that they all saw something I didn't. They were able to see the big picture. I would not be able to give the coaching position the dedication it deserves because I am too busy, and I would be doing a disservice to my husband because I would be under more stress and away from home.
I e-mailed the coach, thanked him for the opportunity, and suggested that maybe next year I could help out when my circumstances are different. I hope this is a possibility!
